The EM-Tec CV2 large centering vise SEM sample holder comprises a unique advantage. It keeps the sample always clamped in the centre of the holder. Both vise clamp jaws simultaneously move away or to the centre of the holder at the same time.
The EM-Tec CV2 large centering vise clamp includes two base plates on which the vise jaws can be re-positioned for optimum sample compatibility. The brass dual vise spindle is located underneath the baseplates with knurled knobs at both sides. The spindle can be operated from either side. One side includes a removable spindle extension to provide better grip when opening the centering vise. Made from vacuum grade aluminium and stainless steel guiding rods to provide dry lubrication. The vise jaws are mounted on the base with brass mounting screws. The baseplates can be removed for to place samples directly between the moving vise guides using the provided stainless steel pins or by mounting the vise jaws directly on the vise slides (low profile mode).
Features of the EM-Tec CV2 large centering vise SEM sample holder are:

- standard vise jaws with triple grooved side and smooth side
- optional vise jaw with single 120° groove for round samples
The EM-Tec CV2 centering vise is a heavy duty sample holder intended for use on SEMs with large chambers and stages with a stage travel distances of 80mm or more. With a spindle travel of 46mm and re-positionable vise jaws the standard clamping ranges are 0-46mm, 34-82mm and 68-114mm. With the optional extension plate the additional clamping range are 102-144mm and 113-159.
The EM-Tec CV2 centering vise can be configured in 4 different modes:
- Standard mode with base plates and vise jaws – clamping capacity 0 – 114 mm
- Low profile mode without base plates and pins for awkwardly shaped samples – clamping capacity 0-50mm
- Low profile mode without base plates and vise jaws mounted on vise guides – clamping capacity 8 – 54mm
- Added extension plates (optional) – clamping capacity 0 – 159 mm
